LAS VEGAS [Wired News] — There was more new sex-tech to be found in the first four hours of Adult Entertainment Expo 2007 than in all of last year’s show. I’ll talk in more detail about these products and people in the next few weeks, but here’s a preview of what’s coming your way this year.
Virtual-Hole and Virtual-Stick
Japanese company Segment, Inc. introduced a teledildonics system with a twist. Yes, you can have real-time cybersex with a partner and control the speed, intensity and rhythm of each other’s toys.
But the toys also respond to video input, adjusting stimulation levels according to whatever you’re watching on television, a DVD or streaming video.
What’s more, you can record video of yourself using the toy and share the file — when your partner plugs in, his or her toy will respond to what you recorded. So you can have cybersex even when your schedules don’t sync up.
The talk2me is the next generation of audio-responsive vibrator. Its wireless transmitter picks up any audio source, from your lover’s voice to your stereo to the movie on the big screen. It separates the frequencies and sends them to different vibrating motors; the bass drives the larger, phallic part of the toy while the treble drives the attached clitoral stimulator.
Apparently, its construction defies certain engineering principles. “Everything in electrical engineering is supposed to be very clean,” says co-inventor Amy Parness, who has degrees in both fine arts and electrical engineering. “But this is dirty!” (thetalk2me.com)
Continuing the trend of sex machines moving into the consumer bedroom, the Caesar from Roman Industries positions a dildo or sleeve at just about any height and angle you want to try — and then thrusts it in and out at up to 280 pumps per minute.
The current models work with any toy from Doc Johnson’s “vac-u-lock” line NSFW. But come spring, the revamped product will only work with toys designed for Roman Industries machines, says company president Richard Rehn. Rather than the wingnut fasteners of the vac-u-lock devices, the new toys screw firmly onto the Caesar’s frame and have adjustable armatures so you can shape and bend them to your will. By now, it’s rare for me to cock my head to the side and say “huh?” about anything sex-tech, but this one flummoxed me. The Velveteeth looks like a cross between a boxer’s mouth guard and a dental mold, and it is intended to prevent you from scraping your partner’s skin with your teeth no matter how enthusiastic you get about necking or oral sex.
