To avoid any possible loopholes, council is being asked to clarify codes and place restrictions on private viewing rooms in adult movie theaters, bookstores, adult video arcades and strip clubs.

Among the proposed new rules, a business must provide a diagram of the premises with locations of managers’ stations, lighting and where patrons are not permitted; managers’ stations must be staffed at all times when customers are on the premises. Managers’ stations must have an unobstructed view of all areas where customers are permitted. Viewing rooms of less than 150 square feet cannot be occupied by more than one person at any time. Live entertainment is not permitted an any viewing room of less than 500 square feet. A person may not appear in a state of nudity on the premises if it contains a viewing or reading room of less than 500 square feet.

According to city attorney Jay Doegey, the regulations would cut down on the opportunity for prostitution.
