PLACENTIA, Nfld. – A funeral was held Tuesday in a small Newfoundland town for an adult film actress who was stabbed to death in Pennsylvania.
Family and friends gathered in the morning at Sacred Heart Church in Placentia, on the southwest coast of the Avalon Peninsula, to pay their last respects to Natel King. King, who went by the stage name Taylor Sumers, will be buried at the nearby Roman Catholic cemetery in Long Harbour, about 40 kilometres to the north of Placentia.
The body of the 23-year-old woman was found in a ravine in Pennsylvania last week.
King lived in Mississauga, Ont. However, the actress’ parents and other family members were from Newfoundland.
Two people, including a photographer, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Anthony Joseph Frederick, 46, of Eagleville, Pa., was charged with first- and third-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and possessing an instrument of crime. He was also charged with lying to authorities.
Police have said King was stabbed in the chest and neck and her body was wrapped in a backdrop similar to the type used by photographers.
Another woman, identified as Jennifer Mitkus, 29, of Oaks, Pa., was charged with lying to authorities and hindering apprehension. Her bail was set at $100,000 US.
Police said she worked as an assistant to the photographer. It was not clear exactly where and when the killing took place.
Prosecutors said King had travelled to Conshohocken, Pa., for a photo shoot and was last seen in the area on Feb. 29.
