North Carolina – from www.charlotteobserver.com – The woman known as the “SouthPark Madam” has been released from jail after completing her two-year sentence.
Sallie Saxon was jailed in 2008 after pleading guilty to charges of running a prostitution ring.
Prosecutors said the “Hush Hush” operation was the largest Internet-based prostitution ring in America.
“I was able to hide behind the Internet,” Saxon told NewsChannel 36 in an exclusive interview in 2009. “I was able to screen the clients. I was able to research the business and find out what mistakes other people made.”
Investigators believe Saxon had more than 500 clients and charged as much as $700 an hour for her prostitutes. The FBI estimates Saxon made at least $3 million.
“I made a lot of money, but I’m going to be honest with you, it’s not worth the money to have lived like that,” Saxon said.
Saxon, 60, was released from federal prison on Tuesday.
Her husband, who also pleaded guilty in connection to the prostitution ring, is scheduled to be released from prison next month.
