PHILADELPHIA – Sylvester Stallone and MGM have been sued by the actress who played Marie, a girl from Rocky Balboa’s South Philly neighborhood, in four of the first five “Rocky” films. Jodi Letizia flipped Rocky the bird and told him, “Screw you, Creep-o!” after he told her that her smoking habits and poor choice of friends would give her yellow teeth and a reputation as a “whore.”
She claims in state court that the defendants told her she had won the part as the widowed Rocky’s love interest in a new film, “Rocky Balboa,” and gave her a script and other material to work on her part. But she says they dropped her, after she had canceled other work, and gave the part to Geraldine Hughes. She seeks compensatory damages for breach of contract. She is represented by George Bochetto, who was Pennsylvania State Boxing Commissioner from 1995 to 2002. Also named as defendants are Columbia/Sony Pictures and Revolution Studios.
