Stormy Daniels Talks Up Hard Luck Origins

DELHI, La — from www.thenewsstar.com – At Roosters Country Bar, $40 will buy a day’s worth of rock bands, a 50-acre mud pit and a conversation about politics with one of the world’s most-watched porn stars.

On Friday, Stormy Daniels ended her statewide “listening tour” at Roosters’ Fourth of July Weekend festival. In between the rumble of motorcycle engines and blasts of guitar solos, the adult film actress talked about her motivation in exploring a run for David Vitter’s Senate seat.

In a reference to reports of Vitter’s affiliation with a Washington prostitute, Daniels said her personal dislike of hypocrites made her consider challenging him.

“The backdoor politics are pretty awful,” Daniels said. “I’ve always watched politics with curiosity and recently, with disgust.”

She said she will come to a decision at the end of the summer.

“I’ve been traveling around to find out if I am going to run or not. If I do, I want to make sure I share people’s opinions in key issues,” Daniels said and listed those key issues as taxes, the economy, health care and sex education. She spoke fervently about instituting a flat tax, promoting more tax credits for the film industry and encouraging condom use to decrease sexually transmitted disease.

In a prospective bid, she said knows she would have to overcome people’s preconceived notions.

“People think if I’m blond, attractive and well-endowed, I must be an idiot,” Daniels said.

She eschewed the idea that the tour was a publicity stunt, saying her contract with Wicked Pictures was for a set fee.

In her tour, Daniels has visited places off the traditional political circuit. Thursday brought her to Barney’s Police and Hunting Supplies in Lafayette. Surrounded by a sparse group of bikers drinking beer in the afternoon sun, Daniels said the people at the event were “her people.”

“I came from an average, lower-income household,” Daniels said. “There days without electricity; I know what that’s like. I think most politicians are born into politics.”

If the handful of people at Roosters couldn’t sympathize with Daniels’ hard-luck origin, then the bar itself certainly could.

The bar originally opened as members-only club housed in a giant barn with thousands of acres of four-wheeler trails. Shortly after the bar’s commercials began airing — featuring a woman leaving with a midget and saying, “It is what it is,” — the bar burned to the ground. Jeff Swank suspected an arsonist was involved but an investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office was inconclusive.

Roosters reopened as an open-air bar and tried several times to hold large events to recoup money for the construction, but rain delays forced organizers to scrap their plans until Friday.

Trey Merrill, a concert promoter hired to bring bands to the event, said the decision to invite Daniels was simple.

“We’re event promoters,” Merrill said. “What better way to promote the event than to bring Stormy here.
