Porn Valley- Monday night was an uncommonly good one for news, gossip and chitchat. That’s because KSEX in the person of The Wanker Show hosted Genesis magazine’s Porn Hot 100. For the second year in a row Tera Patrick was named the golden girl in Genesis’ Hot 100 Countdown of top porn stars.
Patrick also happens to be the publisher of the magazine, but what the fuck. “You got to give me Number 1,” she laughed. In a phone interview with the mag’s editor-in-chief, Dan Davis, Davis noted that this is the sixth year for the promotion. “It started out as a little thing in the magazine,” said Davis. “We wanted to do a little feature. Music magazines do the list, stupid wrestling magazines, whatever.” Davis said response to the list is divided among the porn community between thank yous and bitching. Wankus asked about the bitching and who complained. Davis was glib in his response to that but noted that it takes a long time to put it together.
Wankus was also quick to point out that his girlfriend Tyler Faith didn’t make the list. “There’s only mistake Genesis magazine’s ever made,” said Wankus. “I can’t buy this magazine. I apologize.” Wankus attributed it to JKP’s dropping the ball, referring to JKP’s “crack” production team.
For her part, Patrick made a special guest appearance on The Wanker show, heading a stellar list that included Taylor Wane, Vicky Vette, Stormy Daniels and Cytherea who was picked no. 3 on the list this year. All the details of Porn’s Hot 100 will be available in the July 2005 edition of Genesis. Davis said the mag will be out next week.
Each year GENESIS’ editorial staff and various industry insiders compile a list of the top adult video actresses in the business for the previous year. The rankings are determined by a variety of factors such as: overall popularity of each individual starlet, the number of films made during the year, personality, looks, grace, crossover potential, mainstream appeal and the heat of her performances.
As Patrick was being introduced, Wankus recalled how he and Patrick got off on a bad foot. Patrick agreed but that it was through no mutual fault. All that being said, Patrick never thought that Wankus would wind up being a good friend and surprise ally. “I went through some shit and you were there,” she said. “The lean times I went through some shit and you were there. It was really cool. And then I had my own show and everybody hated me because I was never on my own show.” Wankus explained that it got to the point that Patrick was so busy it was give and take as to whether she’d show up for her program. Patrick, who brought her dog Chopper along, said she missed Carmen Luvana, especially.
Asked if she was excited by her selection or blase by now, Patrick said it was cool. “You never get tired of the accolades,” she said. “It makes you feel good for doing what you do. It’s nice to be rewarded.” Patrick went on to say that the AVN awards was one day where you’re validated for all the hard work you put in. “All the producers, all the directors, all the actors- everybody feels that it’s great to be dressed up and honored.” Wankus hastened to point out that it was for having sex for a living.
Addressing the age-old question about what are you going to tell your kids, Patrick was of the opinion that hers would be proud. “My kids are going to be, like, my mom was a porn star.” But Patrick said she had no plans so for raising a family. “They’ll be my grandkids.” Wankus hastened to point out that you need kids before you have grandkids. On that issue, Patrick deferred to her sister and brother who are 9 and 11 respectively. “They both know I’m a model and stuff. They know I’ve done Playboy. It’s cool.”
Wankus brought up the fact that Patrick was picked number one, whereas Jenna came in second, wondering if there was any cattiness abounding. Patrick said not at all. “She was the first girl I ever worked with,” said Patrick. “We met in 1999. A lot of people have asked if we’ve ever done anything together. And we did. We did a layout for a magazine called Hot Video. It was when they had the awards in France. It kind of tapered off a couple of years ago. We both posed for the magazine and no one’s ever seen the layout if you didn’t buy that French magazine. It was only released in France.” Patrick said she has nothing but good memories from Jameson. “We both respect each other as colleagues.”
Patrick also credited Jameson for opening a lot of mainstream doors for her. “I wouldn’t have even got half the mainstream stuff I have, had it not been for her. I’m glad she’s still kicking down those doors and making it easy for me and other girls who are getting mainstream attention like Gina Lynn.” Wankus pointed out that Jameson was trying to have a baby. “She’s doing that family-thing.” The discussion got on some of the competitiveness abundant in the industry.
“Especially for that Best New Starlet Award,” Patrick pointed out. “That’s like the most cutthroat award there is.” Patrick noted that she as well as Jameson won that award. “I really didn’t think I was going to win. That’s like the big award.” Patrick likened it to a beauty pageant where contestants were stabbing one another with scissors. “Cutting up their AVN dresses.” Patrick mentioned a time where she and Juli Ashton showed up in the same dresses to AVN. “She was doing the show for Playboy. I said you know what would be cool? I’ll walk down the aisle and you can tear my dress off. We’ll start a catfight and we’ll just roll down the aisle naked.”
Patrick also mentioned that several Vivid girls placed in the Top 10 as well and that she just did a scene with Monique Alexander. “We had a great rocking scene. She did me with a strap-on. It was cool.” Patrick also did a commercial with Brittney Skye. “This is how I pick up on the chicks- oh we should do a content day together.” In other news Patrick reported that she just opened her talent agency, The Tera Patrick agency, www.terapatrickagency.com.
“I’m now bringing in girls to the business.” Patrick said her goal was to educate girls about the business through her own experiences. “To keep them away from certain production companies and to encourage them to save their money; and get them on a program where they can reap the benefits of being in porn.” Wankus said a lot of agencies focus on their cut and don’t give a shit about the girls. Her production company, Teravision, is also shooting one movie a month, she added. “My next movie is July 5th and it’s with Brianna Banks. It’s called Collision Course. She was amazing. She’s just a gorgeous girl.”
Patrick said she feels lucky to be with Vivid. “I get the choices of the nicest girls,” she said. “There’s nice girls everywhere. All the girls are great.” On that subject, Wankus said he heard that Reign of Tera was doing record-setting sales numbers. “The numbers I heard made me really fuckin’ jealous, and it shows me that you owe me a trip to Hawaii, all expenses paid just because you can afford it after the numbers I’ve heard.” Patrick said she’d love to shoot in Hawaii again, that the response from her fans says they’d love to see her sans makeup on an island. “A tropical setting.”
