Do you remember a guy named Craig Hosoda? Of course you don’t. Hosoda came up with the idea of tracking mainstream movies for celebrity nude scenes. He even wrote a book called The Bare Facts Video Guide www.barefacts.com/intro.html
Then along came Mr. Skin, and Hosoda, who had the original idea, was never heard from again.
The same thing happened to George Martin. Martin operated a company called GM Productions back in the 1980’s and 90’s where he and his video crew attended Spring Break events, Wet T-shirt contests, nude beauty pageants and other such fare to create a mail order line. It was pretty good stuff especially if you like gratuitous female nudity.
Then along came Joe Francis who basically took Martin’s idea and came up with Girls Gone Wild. Francis did nothing different than Martin but he marketed his product better and made the zillions of dollars that were rightfully Martin’s.
So when people say Rob Black’s idea for a United Adult Workers of America can’t work that it’s been tried before, I just gave you two examples of novel thinkers who had a great idea only to fall on their ass with it. I think Black, who is a promotions animal, is going to have better results.
