Austin- The company that created FOX’s hit show “American Idol” is suing the owners of a Texas strip club for using the reality series’ moniker and logo, TMZ reported.
The suit filed this week in U.S District Court in Texas by FremantleMedia alleges that “Stripper Idol” has tarnished the competition’s good name.
According to TMZ, Fremantle claims Palazio Men’s Club in Austin broke the law when it held the contest.
The club’s Web site advertises “S.I” as a weekly contest held every Thursday, awarding a grand prize of $500.
The suit is seeking club profits along with damages and legal fees, TMZ reported.
The club denied a request for comment.
