New Orleans- from – www.wwl.com – Reverend Grant Storms spoke out today about his arrest for allegedly masturbating in Lafreniere Park. The long-time “family values” preacher apologized.

“Do I have problems? Yes. Did I do something wrong? Yes,” Storms said at a news conference.

He said his problem is with pornography. “Pornography is destructive and it can ruin a person’s life, and it ruined my life.”

WWL First News asked Storms, if there children nearby his van.

Storms replied: “There were children, in, in, in, right, yeah, in the park right in front of the van.”

However, Storms went on to say: “The impression is that I was out there exposing myself to them, and that’s not the case,” he told reporters. Storms added, “I was not looking at the children.”

He says his problem is with adult heterosexual pornography. Storms has been a very vocal critic of the gay community and tried to get the gay pride festival, Southern Decadence, shut down after he videotaped man participating in sex acts and masturbating in the street.

“I ask people that if they can find it in their heart, to forgive me,” Storms said. “Which for some… it is not going to be easy to do because I had been vicious at times in my condemnation of others. I apologize for that.”

The reverend also told his wife and four sons he is sorry.

“I’ll take the opportunity to apologize to her once again, and my children for hurting them deeply. And I love them,” he said appearing to be fighting back tears.

Storms says he has two boys ages 6 and 9 and two grown sons.

Police say two women told park workers they saw Storms masturbating inside a van in the park near the carousel.

On Monday, JPSO spokesman Sgt. Larry Dyess told WWL First News that Storms origianlly told responding officers that he was tired from cutting grass and was urinating into a bottle inside of his van.

However, Dyess says that in further interviews with detectives, Storms admitted to masturbating inside the van.
