Wifey’s World Pissing Off Scottsdale

Scottsdale- An Oregon couple who run a pornographic Web site called Wifey’s World [www.wifeysworld.com] has riled some Scottsdale residents over plans to move their operation to north Scottsdale.

Residents who live in the high-priced 85259 ZIP code received a mailing this week warning of the impending move of Kevin and Sandra Otterson, a married couple known to their Internet fans as Hubby and Wifey.

Together, the Ottersons run a hardcore porn site that boasts of “the Web’s most well-endowed, orally talented housewife.” The 8-year-old site features pictures and videos of the couple being intimate.advertisement

Kevin Otterson said he and his wife had not yet decided whether to return to Scottsdale from Oregon, where they moved about two years ago.

But a handful of residents worry about what the move could mean for their neighborhood.

“Although I support freedom of speech . . . , as a parent and homeowner in the area, I am concerned that this business would be established or moved to our area,” resident Phil Mihok wrote to the city.

Another resident, Brenda High, wrote the city asking what she could do to keep the couple out.

Otterson said he understood concerns but that the couple would be all but invisible in the neighborhood.

“There is no (pornography) studio going in,” he said. “I’ve never had a studio. (The mailer) made it sound like we hang out with this porn element, and we’re going to be having all these people over. It’s complete nonsense.”

Otterson bought property in the upscale Ancala subdivision in March. The lot in the 12800 block of North 119th Street has a cash value of $456,000, according to the Maricopa County Assessor’s Office.

Plans for a house have been filed by Otterson’s architect. But no home exists today, and the start of construction is likely months away, city staff said.

The mailer encourages concerned residents to contact members of Scottsdale’s Citizen and Neighborhood Resources staff.

“In order to protect your neighborhood and your children it is imperative that you take action now,” warns the glossy mailer from the “Northeast Valley Coalition Against Pornography,” a previously unknown group that lists no contact information.

But it is not illegal to operate a Web-based adult business from a home, city staff members said.

Judy Register, manager of Citizen and Neighborhood Resources, said there was nothing Scottsdale could do.

“We cannot take any action unless there is indeed some illegal activity,” she said.

Michael Craig, a resident who received the mailer, said the only thing that offended him was the notion that someone would tell him “what you should and should not do in the privacy of your own home.”

“Let me wish you continued luck and success in your business,” Craig wrote to the Ottersons in a note he copied to the city staff. “And don’t let other people stick their noses in it, unless they want to pony up the monthly fee to watch.”
