PAINESVILLE, Ohio — An Ohio judge known for handing out unusual sentences has ordered three men who pleaded guilty to soliciting sex to wear a chicken costume.
Judge Michael Cicconetti agreed to give each man a 30-day suspended sentence if they would wear the borrowed costume on Friday outside the courthouse in Painesville, Ohio.
They must also carry a sign that reads, “No Chicken Ranch in Painesville.”
Officials said they are trying to send a strong message that they won’t tolerate solicitation in the city.
The sign and the costume refer to a brothel in Nevada, where prostitution is legal, called the Chicken Ranch.
It’s not the first time the judge has used animals in his sentences.
He ordered a man who called a policeman a pig to stand next to a live pig in a pen and hold a sign that read, “This is not a police officer.”
Also, a couple who stole a baby Jesus statue from a manger were sentenced to dress as Mary and Joseph and walk with a donkey.
