ZUMBRO FALLS, MN — The temps are frigid, but the tempers are boiling in Zumbro Falls.
Dozens of people demanded answers at a city council meeting after an unwelcomed strip club opened in the city last night.
At the meeting, the mayor said the Pussycat Cabaret has not filed for any business license, liquor license, or any adult performance use permit from the city.
During the meeting, the city council adopted an ordinance outlawing public nudity and indecent exposure. The council adopted another temporary ordinance banning any adult establishment from operating within 500 feet of a school, park, church, or residential property.
Mayor Alan Vandewalker says, “The council has adopted a motion to have the matter investigated, and talk to the county attorney to see what type of charges we would like to bring about whether criminal or civil against [Pussycat Cabaret] for opening without a license and proper permits.”
Wednesday was the Pussycat Cabaret’s second night open for business. The owner had no comment regarding the business and the city.
On Friday, the attorney representing Pussycat Cabaret filed a lawsuit against the city alleging that the state and local adult entertainment restrictions are unconstitutional.
