Dinh Thoai Yen Vy in some languages means cut the crap and get me a turkey sandwich with tomato and mayonnaise. But in Vietnamese it translates to sex scandal.

Vietnam- Ho Chi Minh City police this week interviewed both parties involved in the Internet video sex scandal that has hit the news recently in Vietnam.

The HCMC Police Department of Criminals Investigation ordered a meeting of the accused and the victim, in a confrontation that lasted 8 hours and left many questions unanswered.

The 36-year-old accused in the case, Phan Thanh Tong was brought out of Chi Hoa prison in HCM city to meet with actress Dinh Thoai Yen Vy, who was allegedly videoed during illicit acts without her knowledge. The video clip was subsequently published on the World Wide Web, and burned to CDs for sale on the black market.

Tong denied his responsibility in the illegal circulation of the intimate sex scenes with ex-lover and actress Yen Vy.

Tong said he had lent the clip to a friend who in turn gave it to another friend. The friends told police they had no knowledge of how it got to the Internet or burned on CDs for sale.

Police endeavored to discover who was responsible for posting and circulation of the clips, and whether the victim had any knowledge of the recording taking place to create news and further her career.

Other models and actresses in Vietnam have been involved in similar stunts; some believe to increase their popularity.

Tong maintained the video was his way of remembering his beautiful love story with actress Yen Vy, while she claimed Tong had secretly filmed intimate moments of their relationship.

On Tuesday, police interrogated Mr. Pham Quoc Hung and Ms. Le Thi Hue about Tong’s alleged involvement into fraudulent car deals. Back story March 17, 2005:: A man involved in the circulation of video clips of sexual affairs with his ex-girlfriend, a well-known actress in Vietnam, was arrested in Ho Chi Minh City March 15.

Phan Thanh Tong, 36, ex-boyfriend of Vietnamese actress and singer Dinh Thoai Yen Vy, was detained for embezzlement and paper forgeries. At an investigative agency, he said he was owner of a wood processing firm and was once a car dealer, police said.

Yen Vi recently blamed Tong for secretly filming intimacies of their affair and posting them on the Internet.

His arrest followed accusations that he was defrauding customers when he was a car dealer, according to police.

Police would first examine Tong’s car frauds, then look into his role in the illicit video clip with actress Yen Vy, said a local police official.

At first, police would try to find out who circulated the videos, the official said.

At the investigative agency, Tong reportedly admitted he was former boy-friend of actress Yen Vy, but refused to unveil any information about the porn clips.

The blue video clips were posted on the Internet and were burned into CDs for sales on the black market in Ho Chi Minh City.

In an interview with Thanh Nien newspaper, actress Yen Vy said she did not know Tong filmed the video clips until 2001.

She said began an affair with Tong in late 1998, and they broke up in March 2001. At that time, Tong was already a married man with children.

Tong recorded the clips to “force me not to leave him as I repeatedly said I wanted to break up with him,” Yen Vy told a Thanh Nien reporter.

“He said if I leave him, he would circulate the clips to destroy my life and career,” she said.

Yen Vy also said she decided to break up with Tong as he was a violent man, and he used to beat her without provocation.

“When I was in love with him, I was so young and naive,” she said.

She added no one but Tong had access to the clips. “Whether Tong himself posted the clips on the Internet would be uncovered by police,” she said.
