AIDS Walk Los Angeles is a 10-kilometer fundraising walkathon to support programs and services provided by AIDS Project Los Angeles and other AIDS service organizations across Los Angeles County for men, women, and children affected by HIV and AIDS.
One of several AIDS Prevention and Awareness organizations that will receive aid from the fundraiser, AIDS Project Los Angeles, one of the largest non-profit AIDS service organizations in the United States, provides bilingual direct services, prevention education and leadership on HIV/AIDS-related policy and legislation.
“It’s important for those of us in the adult industry to support fundraisers like these,” says AEBN’s Michael Herman. “AIDS is a disease that is devastating members of both the gay and straight communities and, as a leader in the adult industry, we need to do our part in combating it, in whatever ways we can. Sponsoring a team made up of industry members in support of an AIDS charity is one good way to do it.”
AEBN has supported other AIDS-related charities in the past and plans to continue to be visible in its support for organizations such as AIDS Project Los Angeles.
Team Evangenitals includes Juli Crockett, Lisa Dee, and Brett Lyda, all members of the band the Evangenitals (http://www.evangentials), as well as their fans and supporters, many of whom are in the adult industry. Formed in 2003 by several employees of JT’s Stockroom (http://www.stockroom.com), the band’s distinctive music style is described as “urban hillbilly truck-stop lullabies,” comprised of Crockett’s original songs and voice accompanied by Dee’s trained soprano and Lyda’s lead guitar.
The AIDS Walk team owes its creation to Lisa Dee, for whom this cause has great personal meaning; Crockett credits her dedication for their current efforts.
“I am so excited to have this opportunity to synthesize my various roles – as Marketing Director for the Stockroom, affiliate of AEBN, member of xPeeps, adult industry enthusiast, lead singer of the Evangenitals, social activist, rebel with a cause, etc,” explains Crockett.
