Porn Valley- Seeing as I’ve witnessed so many of them, I’m of the belief that the Gene Simmons sex tape story is all a publicity scam and that Simmons was in on it.

However, celebrity sex tape authority Kevin Blatt claims no, that Gene Simmons was literally caught with his pants down on this one.

Blatt was approached about a month ago by guys claiming to be attorneys representing an offshore company. They had something they wanted Blatt to look at. Blatt met them at the Xbiz show. They had the Simmons tape and Blatt asked if Simmons were involved. Blatt was told, yes. And Blatt said he was in as long as the company reps could provide the 2257’s [model release, ID and age validation]. Then Blatt would do publicity and hook them up with all his media contacts.

But when the 2257’s weren’t forthcoming, that’s when Blatt was informed they were a Panamanian company. Blatt also wondered if Simmons were involved, why they were based out of Panama.

“It didn’t add up,” says Blatt. In the ‘fess up, Blatt was then told Simmons wasn’t really involved with the project but it was going to be made to look as though he were.

“I said what does that mean?” adds Blatt. “They told me, you’ll see, that this tape involves the Frank’s energy drink girl and that he [Simmons] took on Frank’s Energy Drink.”

“Here’s the other thing people don’t know,” Blatt confides. “A&E is absolutely fuming over this because the very first show of Family Jewels this year, Simmons takes a lie detector test. And one of the questions they ask him is have you ever cheated on Shannon [Tweed]. He says no and he passed. This tape happened about six months ago while Gene was in Vancouver. It’s really him.”

According to Blatt, Simmons was there doing appearances and signings at 7-Elevens on behalf of Frank’s Energy Drink.

Blatt then goes on to read me a letter that Simmons’ attorneys have sent the company that provides the feed of the tape on the GenesSecret site.

The letter goes on to say that Web Master Central [which is providing the feed] is committing “contributory copyright and trademark infringement” with respect to the video itself.

The letter goes on to elaborate about the KISS face paint and styled lettering on the site and that under the doctrine of contributory infringement Web Master Central could be held liable to the same extent as GenesSecret.

“The whole bottom line is they shut down my friend’s company, Web Master Central, out of Florida that was providing the feed,” Blatt elaborates, noting that GenesSecret is still up.

“I don’t think Gene will be able to take it down because it’s in Panama. Gene is not involved in this at all.”

According to Blatt, Simmons didn’t know he was being taped, that it was done with a hidden camera. Unlike the Joey Buttafuoco tape.

“Gene’s pissed,” says Blatt. “Somebody set him up. Who knows who put the chick up to it, but she put a camera in her room. She doesn’t appear to be too into him. She keeps moving her head around every time he goes to kiss her.”

Blatt, who has seen the tape, says there’s so many elements of copyright infringement with the tape forgetting A&E , The Apprentice and KISS records for a moment.

“While he’s doing her you hear Foreigner’s Waiting for a Girl Like You in the background then you hear Steve Perry’s Oh Sherrie.”

Blatt swears that Simmons isn’t a guy to fuck with on these issues.

“It’s amazing how powerful he is,” states Blatt. “And the other thing is no major mainstream news outlets wanted to report this story.”

Blatt said he was shocked to hear that and called his friends at TMZ and asked why they weren’t reporting the story. Blatt was told it wasn’t legal and Simmons was way too powerful.

“When I got involved with the Paris Hilton thing, everybody said the Hiltons will kill you,” Blatt recalls. “They’re the most powerful family in America and all of this stuff. At the end of the day they hire attorneys and they can cripple you.”

Blatt is saying that he feels really bad for Simmons but that one of the funniest things he’s read in the last couple of days which made him spit coke out of his nose, was a comment on a forum describing Simmons in the tape.

“Gene is doing her with his shirt on, his pants are around his ankles with his shoes on,” Blatt describes. “Someone writes in the forum: what the hell kind of outfit is that? It looks like she pulled him off the can while he was taking a dump. Then another person wrote along the lines that he’s fucking her Donald Duck-style. What’s with the short still on. That had me rolling. The whole thing is so absurd.”

“That anybody thought this was going to make any money is absurd to me,” Blatt continues. “A male sex tape will never sell. I got involved with the Colin Farrell-thing. I got involved with Dustin Diamond. They don’t sell. It’s pointless to put out a male sex tape unless it’s Brad Pitt.

[And you get pretty much the real thing in Pitt’s movie Troy, anyway.]

“Women don’t plunk out their credit cards for this,” Blatt insists.

I suspected that guys would with the Simmons tape because of his womanizing reputation.

“Maybe because the chick’s hot,” Blatt concedes. “But now you can see it everywhere for free.”

Blatt can’t believe that GenesSecret is still up and running.

“But when I talked to them they were pretty confident that they were going to stay up for a long time.”

With some hindsight, Blatt’s now wondering if everything the Panamanian company told him wasn’t bullshit.

“Everything had to be bullshit,” he says. “Looking at this thing, it’s layered on so many different levels. Gene’s people will be on a wild goose chase.”

“I know 100% this was done without his knowledge,” Blatt insists, saying he got certain inside info convincing him, from the attorney claiming to rep the Panamanian company.

“I confronted him and said, look, I’m not going to be set up like I got set up on the Cameron Diaz-thing. You better show me the documentation. He said we’ll get it to you, then said we don’t really have documentation. I said if he’s behind it why won’t he sign off on it? He goes, well, you know how that works. I said, yeah. I won’t put my name on this and work on it. I gave him a contact at TMZ do do a story but TMZ said they wouldn’t touch it for the world.”

“The funny thing is AVN and Xbiz were so quick to jump on the story and break it. It was like CNN,” Blatt laughs.

Even without the 2257’s to offer, it appears that the Feds can’t touch anyone.

“That’s because it’s not being hosted and served out of this country,” states Blatt. “It’s illegal on so many levels. But copyright infringement seems to be the one thing the attorneys are going after more than anything. It’s not so much the fact that he didn’t sign off or that she didn’t sign off.”

According to Blatt, the trailer displays all of Simmons’ gold records, house and licensed merchandise. [A lot of the footage is from Family Jewels.]

“And you have to go to the website to fully understand this- they use the KISS font,” says Blatt. “It’s a blatant ripoff on every level and KISS is the most protective band in the world when it comes to their mark.”

Blat said because of the story Simmons was number 1, 3, 5 and 6 out of the Top 10 Google searches Wednesday.

“And this story was broken without any major news sources,” Blatt notes. “Virally this thing took off like wildfire. That goes to show you how big the Internet is. That means, virally, people were taking this video and sending it to other people with the links. The servers were getting hammered.”
