Let’s see. There’s supposed to be a sex tape of Al Unser Jr. and he’s being blackmailed over it by some pimp who runs an internet prostitution ring and strip club. Unser has already paid some money to this pimp so that tells you something. But now authorities are saying that Unser was neither a client of said pimp or involved with the prostitution ring. Someone’s hiding something.
[KOB.com]- The District Attorney’s Office said the head of a prostitution ring extorted money from racing legend Al Unser Jr. with claims of a compromising video tape.
Unser was named as one of two extortion victims in a 137-count indictment against the suspected Albuquerque pimp.
The suspect, 47-year-old Bobby McMullin, was arrested last May. Police say he ran an internet escort service that was actually a prostitution ring. McMullin also ran a Downtown strip club.
Unser is mentioned in counts 72 and 73 of the indictment. The DA’s office said McMullin told Unser he had video of the racing legend in a “compromising position.” McMullin allegedly asked Unser for $750,000, or he would release the tape to the public.
The DA doesn’t know how much money Unser ended up paying. Prosecutors say the tape is not connected with the suspected prostitution ring and that Unser is not one of the hundreds of johns or clients in McMullin’s ring.
Unser has had run-ins with the law. In 2002, he was arrested for an alcohol-fueled fight with a girlfriend. The charges were dropped when he promised not to drink any more.
In 2007, Unser was arrested for a DWI hit-and-run in Nevada. After the crash, Unser said he was undergoing alcohol treatment.
