West Hollywood, Ca – The sun came out to shine on the supporters of the SlutWalk movement here in Los Angeles this past Saturday, June 4th. Among the activists, demonstrators, and supporters, two of the adult industry’s most community involved stars Alana Evans [pictured left] as well as jessica drake [right], came out to march in support of victim’s rights.
SlutWalk began in Toronto, Canada after officer Michael Sanguinetti made this statement to students at Osgoode Hall Law School;
“You know, I think we’re beating around the bush here,” Michael Sanguinetti began, as he addressed the 10 students who attended the meet-up. Then he said: “I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this – however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”
Sonya JF Barnett and Heather Jarvis are the founders behind SlutWalk which originated in Toronto. From there, the movement spread across the world with cities such as London, Los Angeles, and Chicago staging SlutWalk marches of their own. Chelsea Delgadillo, Olga Ivesic, Hugo Schwyzer, Katie Landers, and Antonia Maria Del Campo all worked together to make SlutWalkLA a reality. The event was held in family friendly West Hollywood Park, in West Hollywood. The turnout was over several hundred people.
Among the list of accredited college professors, feminist activists, and survivors who spoke at the rally, Alana Evans was included as a speaker. This occasion marked the first time Mrs. Evans has spoken publicly about her assault in December of 2008. As the crowd of hundreds cheered and offered Alana verbal support, Alana delivered her speech with strength and poise, despite the shaking hands.
Alana’s speech was so strong and intense, the majority of the news stations, including KCAL9 and KTLA5, used a piece of her speech for their broadcasts. Alana spoke about her attack as well as a women’s right to live free from fear.
