How the shoe quickly changes to the other foot. Just a couple of weeks ago, Ideal Image Management put out a notice that talent shouldn’t work with Tori Black’s husband for certain specified reasons. www.adultcybermart.com/StoryLyndellAnderson01282012.html
Now we have this concerning Mike Hellerstein’s Ideal Image Management [T Real is the co-partner]:
CHATSWORTH, Calif. — The Agency Licensed Trade Association, a new trade
group of adult-industry representation companies, has issued a statement
regarding Ideal Image Management, which they say is not licensed as a talent agency.
“We want to protect the talent in the adult industry from unlicensed
representation,” ALTA co-founder Shy Love said.
“Of course we would like them to sign up with a licensed ALTA agency, but it’s important that their representation be licensed.”
The ALTA statement follows:
“Are You with Ideal Image Management?
“IF YES PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!
“By State Law you must be a licensed talent agency (not a management company) in California in order to procure a job for talent.
“If Ideal Image has attempted contacting you as talent and stated they have
a job for you on a set date; they have set up a price you get paid; they
call you with details of the job (like location, wardrobe, makeup, talent);
and collect commissions: This is a job of an agent not a manager.
“A manager is allowed to manage your career, and an agent is allowed to
procure you work. If this happened to you, you are entitled to get all of
the agency fees that you have paid to that company reimbursed in entirety.
To do this, contact the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement
and put in a written complaint. The telephone number for the California
Department of Licensing Labor Commissioner is (415) 703-4846.
“As of 11:43 am on February 7, 2012, the DLSE has informed us that Ideal
Image Management has not filed or attempted to file for a License for their
agency.
“As a final note, talent should never have to pay your management company
for booking your jobs. It is against the law. Management companies are not
legally allowed to book jobs or charge commissions on jobs they booked. Any
talent with an unlicensed agency can put a claim in and get reimbursed 100
percent of all commissions paid to the unlicensed agency by that management
company.
“The state of California maintains a database of licensed talent agencies at www.dir.ca.gov/databases/dlselr/talag.html and ALTA recommends that
all talent verify that their representation is licensed.”
ALTA was started in January. Adult industry talent representation company
members are ATM/LA, Motley Models, OC Modeling and Type 9 Models.
