www.content.usatoday.com – New England wide receiver and special teams player Julian Edelman is due in court today in Boston after he allegedly groped a woman at a Halloween party early Tuesday.

The Boston Herald reports that Edelman is charged with indecent assault and battery after he allegedly reached under a women’s costume and grabbed her between her legs.

According to the report, a male witness told he police he saw the woman’s facial expression go into “an expression of shock” when the alleged assault occurred.

Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney’s office, said that the alleged assault was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the Storyville nightclub in Boston, according to the Herald.

Both the witness and the alleged victim demanded Edelman be kicked out of the club immediately, the report states. That witness and the alleged victim were booted first, police report, after that “witness” threatened to beat up Edelman. The Patriot is listed in the police report as tanding 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.

Police said the alleged victim was trying to keep the witness from taking on Edelman after the alleged dance-floor groping.

Edelman was also ejected from the club and then denied the allegations to cops, police report.

A message seeking comment from a Patriots spokesperson wasn’t immediately returned to the Associated Press.

Edelman, a seventh-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2009, has just three catches for 25 yards on the season. He is also the team’s leading kick returner.
