Kansas- Undercover Wichita police on Thursday arrested 10 men –some of whom groped the officers–in a sting operation at an adult book store on West Kellogg.
Eight of the men exposed themselves to undercover officers, and four of them groped the officers in private booths in the store, Sgt. Randy Reynolds said Friday.
The five-hour operation took place at the Vegas Video store, 8323 W. Kellogg. Two undercover officers worked from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday backed by two supervisors and two uniformed officers.
The store cooperated with the investigation, police said, and does not face any citations. Police had received complaints about morals crimes at the store, Reynolds said.
A manager at the store declined to comment when contacted Friday afternoon.
Reynolds said officers working such stings will “sit in the arcade, where there are coin-fed video machines, and the suspect will come in and expose themselves” and touch the officers inappropriately.
“Some of them can be quite aggressive.”
Wichita city ordinance prohibits more than one person from occupying these booths.
The men, ranging in age from 22 to 62, were booked into the Sedgwick County Jail and face charges of morals crimes ranging from suspicion of public nudity and lewd and lascivious behavior to sexual battery.
Police also visited an XCitement Video store on West Pawnee but did not make any arrests there, Reynolds said.
