Porn Valley- James Bartholet posts on www.ladirectnews.com : In the last few years there has been a lot of promotional parties for our industry, something we have not seen in years past. This is good thing and bad thing.
A good thing because it is a way to promote our industry to the general public, and to have a night out on the town. The bad side is that their are shady promoters out there who take advantage of the girls; using their names and images to promote their events, sometimes without even asking permission first.
Another huge problem is some do not pay for you to make an appearance, and instead offer to give you a table and a bottle of alcohol, and a guestlist for you and your friends, but when you get there, none of that happens.
A recent example of this happened this week, when some of our clients were approched to lend their names and images and take time out their busy schedules to appear at a promotion for Elite Entertainment at a nightclub in Hollywood. When they got there their promise of a bottle and private table where not there, even after a repeated promises that they would be.
Now, some promoters are very honest and reputable, like Brad Thomas with InToxicate U, or Scott Davis and Jeff Mullen. But unfortunatly they are few and far between.
Our suggestion to you is, in the future, get the money up front, or get an additional written agreement from the nightclub owner or general manager of the venue, as well as the promoter, in writing that you will receive everything that is offered to you for you appearing that night.
Remember, your name, image, and time are important, and valuable, and you should be compensated for that.
