Porn Valley- Syren was a guest last week on the KSEX show Lynn LeMay and I co-host.
"You were in one of the coolest-looking adult movies of all time," I tell her. "Les Vampyres [directed by James Avalon]- I can't say enough great stuff about it."
"You and Ava Vincent did some of the best lesbo I've seen on the screen," I also tell her.
"That was a really intense experience," she comments, noting that the movie was actually shot in the Valley, though it conveyed the feeling of old Europe.
"It really had that Dracula-look about it," I remark.
"There's this castle- actually it was shot here in the Valley," she says.
"It was an old, medieval castle. And most of the interiors were built in a studio. Metro put a lot of money into their production value. I still have the original script and I remember the title of the script at the time was Lesbian Vampire Movie. And we ended up revising it."
"In the beginning I was cast as the lead vampire and we were looking for a co-star," she recalls.
"I was there during the auditions. And Eva Vincent just got in the business. She had been in the industry barely a month. And we really hit it off. Our chemistry was just really, really good. And we ended up rehearsing for several weeks. We blocked the whole movie and rehearsed it like a play."
To research the role, Syren watched some old vampire movies to get a feel for her character."
As a rule, she tends to like action movies more, Syren states.
"You must be getting a lot of action going on with Evan Stone," I tell her. They've been a couple for several years.
"Horror movies- I can't get into that reality," Syren continues. "I see the effects, how the film is made."
Asked if she watched porn, Syren says no. LeMay says same for her.
"You're watching your friends," observes LeMay.
That's the same reason why Syren says she goes on the Internet to watch "strangers".
"Swing clubs are fun," says LeMay. Syren agreed but doesn't go to them as often now.
"I like watching D.P.'s," Syren laughs. "I've never done it- that's probably why I like watching."
I find this hard to believe.
"I've never been with two men, GENE!" she insists. "I'm so deprived. I've never been casted. And I've not done an anal scene. I want to!"
Although she's been in the business eight years, Syren sounded like she was begging to do one.
"Nobody has ever approached you and offered it?" I ask incredulously.
"Not really," she says. "In the beginning I didn't do anal. Then I experienced it in my personal life and was, like, maybe I can do it. With the right guy, of course. Evan's already said yes on the D.P. So I'm only looking for one more guy. Do you perform? We can do a horror D.P."
Which I agreed is my specialty but only on the provision I find a volley ball chick to lend her ass to the proceedings.
LeMay asked Syren if she's ever been on the road dancing. Syren says yes.
"That was one of my best lines," recalls LeMay. "I'd go into a bar in a town that I was at. I'd meet a couple of guys at the bar. Oh, you're a porn star? Is there anything you've never done? Well, I've never done two guys before and it worked every time."
I asked Syren how she hooked up with Stone. She said it was in New Zealand about three years ago when they went there to do a signing at a convention.
"When I first started out in the industry we kind of had something going on but it didn't work out," she said.
"It was like a second time kind of thing and when we went to New Zealand we just picked it up from there. We're more experienced now and are best friends. We look out after each other. I support his creativity and his career."
In September, Syren launched a website, www.syrenspell.com.
"I built it 100% myself," she states.
After that she launched Stone's site, www.evanstone.com.
"On his site I wanted to capture him on graphics," she says. "I wanted everything that was him on his website, and I think I did that. He's very theatrical and very animated and random. I wanted to get that and I think I did."
"I love the graphics part of it," she says of web work.
When I brought up the whole HTML horror show, she says there are progams now that write the codes for you.
"I use Dreamweaver and I incorporate that with Adobe Photo Shop which is my graphics program," she says. "It worksd really well. I find that it's just a matter of using the programs and playing with them and it's very instinctive- what you see is what you get- and it's very logical. I love that stuff."
"It can't be that logical," LeMay laughs. "I have a webmaster that talks back to the computer, some of the words he says."
"I love HTML talk," insists Syren. "It's just amazing what computers can do nowadays."
"There are two people who have the world by the balls," I add. "You've got the attorneys and you've got web masters. And they both speak in their own language where nobody knows what the hell they're talkin about."
Attorney Michael Fattotosi, who was also on the show, asked Syren if gay guys were members of Stone's site.
"It's a mix," she said. "Gays and girls. There are girls that sign on, too. Some ask if he's doing solo shows and I think that would be a gay following. But he's very entertaining and branches out to a lot of different markets."
I note how Syren's career has branched off where she's doing a lot of softcore movies.
"I've been doing that for five years now," she comments. "So when I started feature dancing, I got busy doing softcore movies when I got back home. Recently, I shot movies for Robert Lombard, www.creativeimagemgmt.com. One of them was- Playing Dirty. It's got something to do with jewels being stolen and I play an art dealer. And I get to do simulated sex scenes."
"We'll start you off with a simulated d.p." I tell her.
'I've done enough simulation, Gene, I want the real thing!" she answers.
"I was asked if I preferred shooting R-rated movies or XXX-rated movies by Softcore Review. I shamelessly said I love doing the hardcore stuff. It's real. You don't have to fake the emotions."
Now that she's built two sites, Syren say she wouldn't mind taking on more projects.
"It's very exciting- I like doing it. With my creative hours I work till four or five in the morning, sometimes. It's a very involved process. You have to be swallowed by a separate world and be really focused. The night time is the witching hour."
Before she got into the adult business, Syren had sites set on being a filmmaker.
"I moved to Hollywood to become involved as one," she states. "I had directed a 30 minute short film, a 16mm."
"I did one of those in a hotel room once," I tell her.
"I went to film school," she adds, noting how she edited the film the old-fashioned way with a splicer and movieola.
"I brought my film here to a festival and got involved with Women in Film as an executive assistant. My boyfriend at that time was a photographer and he started taking nude pictures of me in our bed."
"Yeah, and the next thing you're Kim Kardashian," I tell her.
