Boston- Two people were shot, a state trooper broke his arm and a Boston police officer was in a cruiser crash responding to a brawl that broke out early this morning at a Girls Gone Wild party at Aria.
Miraculously, no one was killed. But a patron and two security officials for the Tremont Street nightclub were among the injured.
A Milton man, Damion Jamaal Powell, 24, will be arraigned tomorrow in Boston Municipal Court on charges he whipped out an unregistered 9mm semi-automatic pistol inside Aria in the basement of the Wilbur Theatre and began shooting into a crowd of some three dozen people pummeling each other with champagne bottles.
Boston police spokesman Officer Ed Crispin said Powell was “randomly firing into the crowd” and “violently resisted arrest,” attempting to pull the gun from his waistband even as police were trying to subdue him amid the mayhem.
A party celebrating the nasty nudes of the Girls Gone Wild tour was scheduled to kick off at 10 p.m. Saturday, hosted by Red Carpet Productions of Boston. The fight broke out about 1:43 a.m. today, starting with small groups quarreling and escalating to between 20 and 35 people attacking each other and police.
Crispin said Powell had at least six open warrants on him. The charges against him include unlawful possession of a firearm, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
