Porn Valley- The Grand Vizier calls me today about the story involving Caballero. We reported months ago that Vertigo had some cash flow problems, and the Grand Vizier now hears that Caballero has been bouncing checks.
"Which doesn't make any sense," says The Grand Vizier. "Unless Danny's trying to make it look like he doesn't have any money because of his lawsuit with Joseph. Caballero and Joseph are suing each other over some Swedish Erotica titles. But Danny's got money, there's no two ways about that. Danny's got some major real estate holdings along with the other businesses that he owns. So the fact that he's battling Joseph over 16-20 titles is something of a joke when you consider what's at stake.
"Whoever wins after all the attorneys fees is going to sell the stuff at 60-70 cents. Now the way Joseph got these titles, he bought out Odyssey from bankruptcy court. In that bankruptcy basket were these Swedish Erotica titles. For some reason, Odyssey had a distribution deal, so Joseph bought something like 350 titles from Bob East. Joseph spent in the neighborhood of $300,000 and in there were those masters from Swedish Erotica, and that's how he's basing his claim. Apparently Danny, owning Caballero, had all the correct paperwork for those titles, but Joseph had the bankruptcy court papers stating those titles. They're both right and it needs the courts to settle this. This has been going on three or four years."
