Cherry Hill Porn Issue Draws Protests

Cherry Hill, N.J. — Lawmakers in Cherry Hill have postponed a final vote on creating zoning areas for stores selling adult videos and pornography. If approved, the measure would allow sex businesses in three parts of Cherry Hill.

Those areas include: Haddonfield Berlin Road, near the Woodcrest shopping center; on Old Cuthbert Road between Route 70 and Chapel Avenue; and on Olney Avenue north of Route 70.

The issue has brought out protesters in recent weeks, particularly at a location on Route 70 near Kings Highway. A businessman is suing Cherry Hill for denying his application to open an adult video store in an abandoned building there.

That location is next to a residential neighborhood.

The new ordinance would not include that location.
