Malaysia: A shop-cum-storeroom belonging to a smut peddler nicknamed the Blue King was raided and more than 10,000 pornographic and pirated DVDs worth about RM70,000 seized in Taman Ciku, Bukit Mertajam.

The 24-hour shop was raided by a police team from the state Commercial Crime Department at about 2pm Tuesday after about a week of monitoring. The so-called Blue King, who is in his 40s, was not in the shop at that time.

Sources said over 5,000 pornographic DVDs were recovered in a special room where customers could take their time looking over the titles, adding that the rest of the DVDs were the latest Cantonese serials and blockbuster movies.

“Three men in their late 20s were arrested at the shop and have since been remanded. They are likely to be charged with selling obscene items under the Penal Code and also selling infringing movies under the Copyright Act 1987,” they said.

It is learnt that the Blue King’s shops, which are always on the move, have been raided at least 20 times over the past three years. He was even been banished to Kelantan under the Restricted Residence Enactment for being a smut peddler in 2002.

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob would only say that police recently took action against “a major pirated DVD distributor” under the Emergency Ordinance and he will be sent to the Simpang Renggam Rehabilitation Centre in Johor next Monday.

“We are now in the process of identifying these pirated DVD distributors. They should stop their activities immediately or we will take action … we mean business,” he said on Wednesday.
