Los Angeles – Courtney Love has agreed to play Linda Lovelace, www.xxxdeepthroat.com in an upcoming biopic of the infamous 70s porn star.
According to Variety the movie, called Lovelace, will be made by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Production company with Merritt Johnson as scriptwriter.
Lovelace, real name Linda Boreman, became a cult figure after starring in the 1972 porn movie Deep Throat which despite being banned in 23 US states went on to gross an estimated $600m.
The New York-born housewife, who claimed she was never paid for Deep Throat, later became a leading spokesperson for America’s feminist movement and an anti-porn campaigner.
She died aged 53 in April 2002 after being injured in a car crash.
Love, 40, won acclaim for her role as porn publisher Larry Flynt’s wife, Althea, in 1996’s The People vs Larry Flynt. –
