Florida- From www. weirdnews.about.com- Chiefland police made their first Internet-related arrest last week – and it was memorable.

Officers arrested a local man posing as a female known as Helen Bedd who was allegedly using the Web service known as Craigslist to offer “man rubs” for $200 an hour.

“We do some Internet stuff here, but this is our first arrest directly resulting from the Internet,” said Chief Robert Douglas.

Arthur Ramos, also known as Helen Bedd, 41, of 319 SW 10th Circle in Chiefland, was arrested and charged with prostitution. A man reportedly acting as a lookout for Ramos, Jessie Eugene Young, 35, was charged with possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence.

Police believe Young is Ramos’ roommate.

Police said they found an advertisement in the casual encounters section of Craigslist. Investigators posed as a married man looking for a “discrete full service encounter.” They described “full-service” as street lingo for sex in all forms by a female prostitute.

In e-mail and phone calls, with Ramos posing as Helen Bedd, police said they negotiated a price of $250 and arranged to meet at a local hotel a short time later. After money exchanged hands between Ramos and an undercover agent, police said they entered the motel room and arrested Ramos.

Some officers involved in the operation said they found Young standing outside the motel room door and that he asked them, “What’s up?” as they were trying to enter the room.

Young was identified as a lookout and arrested after agents reportedly found a knife, two cell phones, a slip of paper with the undercover officer’s name and phone number on it and a marijuana joint in his pockets.

Douglas said that, after the men were arrested, Ramos told officers that he was a prostitute, that prostitution was the world’s oldest profession and that he did not understand why the officers were making a big deal out of it. Ramos also told police he had a prostitution business in Miami.

Following the arrests, police searched their records and discovered they had been called to Ramos’ home several times to take reports from Ramos in which he claimed he was being stalked or that he had been carjacked or that a man he did not know had broken his windows.

According to Douglas, a further search on the Internet showed Ramos may have been offering prostitution services from his home for three years. Police said their found reviews posted by prior clients dating back to 2006.

Ramos was being held at the Levy County Jail in Bronson.
