from www.newjerseynewsroom.com - A Vineland man who pleaded guilty last year to transporting and supporting a prostitution enterprise that exploited both underage females and adult women was sentenced last week to 188 months in prison, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Prosecutors say Javon "Teflon" Gordon acted as the pimp of the prostitution ring from September 2007 until July 2008 and he admitted to managing the females who were required to turn over monies they made from performing sexual acts on customers to Gordon.
Gordon used Craigslist to solicit the females and traveled to Boston and Philadelphia to pick up a minor and adult female whom he later transported back to the New Jersey area for the purpose of prostitution. In addition to transporting the females, the 29-year-old posted nude and sexually suggestive photographs of the females on various social websites to advertise and promote the prostitution. The victims, at Gordon's behest, propositioned clients on the streets as well as Atlantic City casinos and the Internet, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
The two counts to which U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler sentenced Gordon also require the defendant to register as a sex offender. If the former pimp had gone to trial and been found guilty, each count carried a maximum penalty of life in prison and a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years. Kugler also imposed a lifetime of supervised release for Gordon, who was represented by Mount Holly attorney Michael Riley.
