Hollywood- Leonardo DiCaprio, the star of Titanic and The Aviator, was assaulted by a woman with a beer bottle at a Hollywood party, receiving wound near his ear that needed a dozen stitches, reported People Magazine on its Web site.
The magazine said DiCaprio was at a party at about 4 a.m. Friday at the home of Rick Salomon when a woman struck him with what appeared to be a beer bottle. Friends took the actor to a hospital where he received about a dozen stitches, People said.
DiCaprio's spokesman, Ken Sunshine, had confirmed the attack, according to the magazine.
"The actor was in Los Angeles during a short break from filming The Departed. While leaving a small private gathering Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had been repeatedly asked to leave the property," Sunshine said.
"The attacker stuck him with a glass object before being restrained by witnesses. She was reportedly looking for an ex-boyfriend who she had apparently physically assaulted on prior occasions," he said.
According to the magazine, the attack could not immediately be confirmed by Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee, a department spokesman.
The attack was not expected to affect DiCaprio's work on a Martin Scorsese movie, "The Departed," which is shooting in Boston and New York, People said. Enditem
