Elyse Metcalf posts: Dear Gene, first I want to wish you a happy new year. Next, on the Reardon antidepressant (did the drugs do it) article, I fully believe that the antidepressants are responsible. Stealing is not the only thing these antidepressants can cause people to do. Within a mere two weeks after being administered (or forced to take or seduced to take) these antidepressant drugs, it has been proven and documented that people have been known to commit homicide or suicide, not to mention the long-term, debilitating illnesses they can cause. While there is literally no evidence to support that these drugs "treat" 'chemical imbalances', much evidence exists that they cause chemical imbalances and worse. (long-term, irreversable illnesses, tardive dyskinesia being but one). Regarding Alan Hilfer, the toxic psycho-logist who commented that this (stealing) couldn't happen because of these antidepressant drugs ( and notice the stress that Reardon was under as well), he (Hilfer) obviously promotes pharmo-psychiatry and should be seriously doubted, questioned, and perhaps even mentally deloused before treating a patient or commenting that this couldn't happen as a result of toxifying the body, mind and spirit with ingesting and consuming antidpressants.
Hilfer, the psychologist, should turn to Peter Breggin, M.D., Ty Colbert, Ph.D., Thomas Sasz, or many others, because HIS (Hilfer's) behavior is unethical, lacking in humanity or any interest thereof, and not learn-ed. The pharmaceutical companies have a huge financial interest in promoting their drugs and Hilfer has obviously fallen under their spell, either out of ignorance or greed, or both. Hilfer should examine himself before passing judgment on Reardon or others. To be kind, perhaps he should examine his own humanity (including his arrogance, which the pharmo-shrinks are a totally arrogant bunch) before proceeding further. Perhaps he should get in touch with and deal with his psychologically violent arrogance; hence, behavior. There is help out there for him.
