from www.lasvegassun.com - Rodger Jacobs and his girlfriend Lela Michael have only lived in their North Las Vegas home for five months, but they have fallen behind on rent and face an eviction hearing Monday, August 23, 2010.
Jacobs, 51, is a freelance writer who has had trouble finding work during the recession. Jacobs' cousin owns the house and charges $1,050/month, but the couple will soon be moving into an extended-stay hotel where they can pay $200/week to save money.

From http://griffithparkwayist.blogspot.com - The Las Vegas Sun is doing a lot of looking into the life of Rodger Jacobs, a scribe, late of LA, who hit Vegas a couple of years ago to take care of his declining mother (now deceased) and faces homelessness on August 31.
I'd really recommend you watch this video to learn a little about how writers who work exclusively freelance are dealing with the moribund economy; I'd like you to look at the smug property manager's face when she successfully evicts Rodger; and most importantly I'd like you to watch it because he's a good friend of mine and you might even be tempted to help him out a bit if you can.
Should Rodger get enough money together by the 31st, he'll move with his girlfriend Lela into a transitory housing hotel. If not--he's likely on awful streets in Vegas with a medical condition that works against him.
If you should feel inclined to contribute something to Rodger in his tough time, you can email money via PayPal to him at [email protected]. If you do, mention GPWist; Rodger as a former resident of Atwater will especially appreciate the geographic karma. Rodger blogs at carnytown.wordpress.com.
