Las Vegas, NV (CNS) – While die-hard technology geeks are swooning over the latest in cutting-edge electronics and gadgets this week at the International 2009 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, across town another party is about to open its doors for fans to swoon over a different set of stars – adult entertainment industry stars, that is. Over 8,000 cheering fans are expected to show at the red carpet for this year’s AVN Porn Awards, to be held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
Co-hosted by industry princesses Jenna Haze and Belladona, celebrities such as rocker Dave Navarro, porn king Ron Jeremy, and last year’s host Tera Patrick are slated to attend the show, which will honor the industry’s leading talent in over 100 different sex categories. As porn’s answer to the Oscar’s, expect to see a mix of lavish red-carpet worthy ensembles and risque “barely there” numbers fashions modeled by over 2,500 actresses at the pre-show.
Now a more media mainstreamed event than in years past, over 1,000 media outlets from as far as Asia and Europe will be covering the awards show, perhaps an indication of how the $12 billion dollar-plus industry has grown massively over the years.
Even with the recently weakened global economy, the AVN awards along with the Adult Entertainment Expo, which is being held at the Sands Expo Center, has brought the city of Las Vegas abuzz with adult entertainment fans in town to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. And like they say, nothing goes more hand-in-hand then a mixed crowd of porn stars and computer geeks talking about their favorite subjects: high definition televisions and the internet.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?
