from www.vcstar.com – The Oxnard School District superintendent said during a Wednesday morning hearing that eighth-grade science teacher Stacie Halas continually lied about her past as a porn star and that the deceit was one of the main reasons he recommended she be fired.

Superintendent Jeff Chancer gave testimony on the third day of an administrative hearing that will determine whether Halas, 32, can keep her job with the Oxnard district.

When asked by Halas’ attorney Richard Schwab whether anyone with a past in the adult entertainment industry could ever become a teacher at the district, Chancer said, “Possibly. Yet, when employees continually are dishonest and lie, then the answer is no.”

Chancer accused Halas of lying about her involvement in X-rated movies and her use of a pseudonym.

The Oxnard School District board voted unanimously in April to fire Halas, a Haydock Intermediate School teacher, after news surfaced that she had a pornographic film career. Halas is appealing the board decision to an administrative law judge at a hearing being held at Oxnard Performing Arts Center.

Halas’ attorney contends that the films were shot before Halas becoming a teacher. Schwab said Halas has “reformed” and deserves a second chance.

“Could Stacie Halas be a role model to show reform?” Schwab asked Chancer.

“In my opinion, based on her past in pornography … no,” Chancer said.

Assistant Superintendent Sean Goldman is expected to testify this afternoon. On Thursday, Schwab is expected to begin calling his witnesses. Students, teachers and administrators have offered testimony as the district’s witnesses since the hearing began Monday.
