Las vegas- Former strip club owner Michael Galardi [pictured left] won't be sentenced for his role in a Clark County political corruption scandal until September if prosecutors get their way.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Schiess filed court documents Thursday requesting that the March 27 sentencing for Galardi be delayed because of his role as a witness in the trial of former County Commissioners Dario Herrera and Mary Kincaid-Chauncey. The two face charges of accepting bribes and favors from Galardi in exchange for championing his business causes through their roles as elected officials.
The case became public in 2003 after federal officials raided Galardi's clubs and disclosed wiretap information in indictments. Galardi made a plea agreement regarding his role in the affair and is now a government witness.
Galardi also has made a plea agreement with federal officials in San Diego in a similar case involving City Council members. He is scheduled to be sentenced there June 15.
