Las Vegas- GIRLS Gone Wild” guru Joe Francis was beaten and held captive by overzealous security guards at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas after they mistakenly thought he was involved in a splashy publicity stunt.

It happened after 260-pound comic Jeff Beacher stripped down to a Speedo and belly-flopped into an aquarium at the hotel’s Rainforest Café to promote his comedy showcase at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Francis, who had just left the Billboard Music Awards with his lawyer and two friends, stopped to watch the spectacle and was tackled by several security guards.

“A security guard grabs me and says, ‘You’re under arrest,’ and throws me down,” Francis told us yesterday. “Then three other guards ran over and they absolutely beat the c- -p out of me.

“I had nothing to do with it. There were people with video cameras nearby and they must have thought I was involved.

“They held me over a fountain and choked my neck. They were punching me in the back. They put handcuffs on me and paraded me through the casino and then kept me in a holding cell for two hours. I still have cuts on my hands. It was totally humiliating.”

Francis, who was released after questioning, was thrown into the same casino holding cell as Beacher, who confirmed that Francis had nothing to do with his stunt.

“The security guards were out of control,” Beacher told PAGE SIX. “He was standing there with, like, 200 other people and everyone was laughing. They ran over and clotheslined him. He was yelling, ‘What are you doing? I’m Joe Francis! Help me!’ They were beating the [bleep] out of him. When they were taking us away, I go, ‘Just for the record, I don’t even know this guy.’ ”

Francis, a frequent MGM guest who was staying in a “high roller” suite, said MGM’s president called him to apologize hours later. But he still plans to sue for damages. “It’s all on videotape,” said his Beverly Hills lawyer, Glenn Litwak. “There were a lot of witnesses. It’s a clear liability case.”

An MGM spokeswoman, who said she was unaware of any efforts to contact Francis, said: “Our security staff is currently reviewing this. An investigation is under way.”

Beacher pulled the same stunt in Manhattan last May at the Coral Room, when the corpulent comic jumped into the club’s mermaid tank to promote his “Beacher’s Comedy Madhouse” at the Supper Club.
