BOSTON from www.cbslocal.com – Christy Mihos is known as the Brockton born businessman and outspoken Turnpike Authority member who made two unsuccessful runs for governor, but a report obtained by the I-Team exposes a man capable of death threats who is addicted to hiring women for sex.

According to his wife Andrea, money problems and allegations of an addiction to hiring prostitutes, strippers and porn stars for sex, fueled an argument that ended in a domestic assault last week near the couples’ oceanfront home in Stuart, Florida. The report states that during a fight in the car, Christy Mihos told Andrea she could, “easily disappear or be hurt or killed.” And when his wife began to record the fight on her iPhone Mihos grabbed it and threw it at her hitting her lip.

The details paint a far different picture of the couple than what’s been in the public eye. In 2006 Mihos described a loving relationship from the start saying, “I just looked in her eyes, she looked at me and I was like whoa.”

But now after 38 years that marriage is struggling. Sources tell us Andrea Mihos also accuses her husband of having his illegal sexual trysts in three different states and paying $400 to $2,000 an hour for sex. The Florida case also revealed a prior alleged assault at the couples’ home in West Yarmouth last July, a case that Mihos will head to court for next month.

No charges will be filed in the Florida case because Andrea Mihos refused to co-operate with investigators there after initially going to Yarmouth Police for help. Her lawyer, Peter Lloyd, told a Florida detective that Andrea would not be making any further statements to law enforcement. Andrea Mihos flew home to the Cape the day after the assault and reported it police. Yarmouth police are seeking charges in their case.

from www.thebostonchannel.com – BOSTON — The wife of former gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos says he is addicted to hiring strippers, porn stars and prostitutes for sex, according to a police report.

Mihos, 62, is accused in two domestic assault complaints that involve his wife, Andrea. Police said the first incident was in West Yarmouth on July 7, 2011, and the second incident happened in Stuart, Fla., on Feb. 20, 2012.

Mihos, a former convenience store chain owner from Cape Cod, ran unsuccessfully for governor as an independent in 2006 and again in 2010 as a Republican.

According to a Martin County, Fla., police report filed last month, Andrea Mihos said the couple started arguing about marital issues as they drove home from dinner near their second home in Florida on Feb. 20.

“Andrea said that at that point Christy’s behavior became erratic and belligerent,” according to the report. “Andrea said that she reminded Christy of his bad choices, including his addiction to hiring prostitutes, strippers and porn stars for sex.”

Andrea Mihos told police her husband then began to threaten her life.

“Christy made inferences that Andrea could easily disappear or be hurt or killed,” according to the report.

When Andrea Mihos started to record the argument on her cellphone, he grabbed it and threw it at her, striking her in the lip, according to the report. He then threw the phone out the car window, according to the report.

Andrea Mihos returned to Massachusetts the next day, and went to the Yarmouth Police Department on Feb. 22 to file a domestic battery complaint, the report states.

At the time of her interview with police, Andrea Mihos had a swollen lip, according to the report.

Florida police said when they tried to speak to the former gubernatorial candidate, there was no answer at his home, and it was believed he had returned to Massachusetts.

Police said five days later, Andrea Mihos contacted Yarmouth police stating she had hit her own lip with the phone when she tried to take it away from her husband, and she had only gone to the police on Feb. 22 to get information about her divorce.

Police also said a Florida security guard who Andrea Mihos said helped her look for her cellphone said he didn’t, and police could not corroborate other details of her story, including exactly where the incident took place.

Florida police said because of the changes in Andrea Mihos’ account of the incident, lack of cooperation by the those involved and lack of witnesses, they don’t have enough evidence to file criminal charges, and the case would be closed.

In an email to WCVB on Thursday, Christy Mihos wrote that he was “not the perfect person,” was seeking treatment and asked for privacy.

“Andrea and I have been married for almost 38 years and I cherish the perfect wife she has always been. We are blessed with two wonderful children. I am now seeking the proper course of treatment to make myself a better husband, father and person. But I am not the perfect person and have made mistakes in judgment that have hurt the ones I love most. I am not the same man I was after major cancer surgery and a significant fall which left me unconscious and hurt me badly in December of 2009. I humbly ask that you respect the privacy of my marriage and my family,” he wrote.

Yarmouth police said the Barnstable District Court reviewed the July 7, 2011, case and scheduled a hearing for March. The department did not offer a specific date.

Police said they have suspended Christy Mihos’ license to carry firearms and confiscated his gun.

In 2010, he was fined $70,000 for using personal and business funds to pay more than $112,000 in expenses incurred during his second campaign.
