from www.toledoblade.com - Once on track to work as an educator, a former student teacher at Waite High School was sentenced to time on community control Tuesday after being found guilty of having inappropriate sexual conduct with a female student.
Erika Bentley, 22, of Lorain, Ohio, was sentenced in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to three years of community control and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine. Judge James Bates also informed her that she was a tier 2 sexual offender, which includes registering her address to the county sheriff every 180 days for the next 25 years.
Bentley pleaded no contest Nov. 9 to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Authorities said Bentley, who was not employed by the district, developed a relationship with a 15-year-old student at Waite. She was seen with the girl by the teen's parents, who reported the incident May 29.
