Oregon- A Bonanza couple was charged Thursday with sexual crimes against a teenage boy they had hired to work on their ranch.

The charges accuse Amy Garcelon, 30, of having sex with the 17-year-old Bonanza boy while her husband stood by and watched.

Garcelon worked as a cheerleading coach and teacher’s aide at the Bonanza school where the teenager was a student, but authorities said there’s no indication their relationship was a result of any connections at the school.

“We have no reason to believe that anything occurred on the school grounds,” said Klamath County Sheriff Tim Evinger. Garcelon recently resigned from her job at the school.

Amy Garcelon’s husband, Glen Garcelon, 36, a farmer, is accused of aiding and abetting Amy Garcelon in the crimes by standing in the room and watching the two have sex before having sex with his wife himself.

Both are charged with two counts of second-degree sex abuse, two counts of third-degree sex abuse and two counts of contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor. The second-degree sex abuse charges are felonies.

The Garcelons turned themselves in at the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office at 11:20 a.m. Thursday. They were jailed on $25,000 bail, and each paid the 10 percent of the bail amount required to be released.

They then appeared in Klamath County Circuit Court for arraignment before Judge Rodger Issacson Thursday afternoon. Both pleaded innocent to the charges.

An investigation into the case started with an anonymous tip Friday afternoon to a Klamath County Sheriff’s office detective, according to a crime incident report filed in court by Detective Monty Holloway with the Klamath County Circuit Court.

The tip said rumors were spreading throughout Bonanza that the Garcelons were having sexual contact with teenage boys, and named one victim specifically.

“There are still more rumors floating around that there were more victims, and we are checking on those leads to see if there was anything to them,” Evinger said.

Authorities are also looking into the possibility of videotape recordings of the sex, but haven’t found any, he said.

The pair, who have been married for 10 years, have known the 17-year-old since he was a child and knew his family, according the crime report.

In an interview with Holloway on Monday, Amy Garcelon said she had sex with the 17-year-old “a couple of times,” and the last time was about two to three weeks ago. The sex occurred at the ranch at 2181 Burgdorf Road.

Glen Garcelon said he wasn’t there the first time it happened, but that he was there for other times. According to the crime report, Glen Garcelon would watch the 17-year-old have sex with his wife and then have sex with her himself. The 17-year-old said he “would be standing there waiting for his turn.”

The couple’s three children would be sleeping in another room while the sexual encounters would occur, according to the crime report.

Amy Garcelon told Holloway that her having sex with the 17-year-old was something she and her husband had talked about, and “it was just something that happened,” according to the crime report.

Glen Garcelon told Holloway that Amy Garcelon began referring to the teenager as “eye candy” once he started work at the ranch this summer, according to the crime report. He said his wife asked at the beginning of the summer if they could have a sexual encounter with the 17-year-old.

The 17-year-old told Holloway the initial contact was made by Amy Garcelon in July. It started out with Amy Garcelon “waking him up and talking with him.”

Glen Garcelon told Holloway that he suspected his wife may have had sexual contact with two more minor males.

Charlene Soule, Bonanza Schools principal, confirmed Thursday that Garcelon will not be at the school when classes resume next month.

“She’s no longer an employee,” Soule said.

The couple’s three young children – a 7-year-old girl, 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old boy – are being watched by their grandparents under the guidance of Child Protective Services.
