from www.hdnews.net – SALINA — A former counselor for Smoky Valley Middle School was bound over for trial Monday on 20 counts alleging she participated in sex acts with a boy younger than 14.
Brooke Dinkel, 32, pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of rape and 10 counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, and Judge Patrick Thompson scheduled her trial to start at 9 a.m. Oct. 14 in Saline County District Court.
A pretrial conference was scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 13.
Dinkel taught at Felten Middle School in Hays for six years before taking over at the Lindsborg school last fall.
Prosecutor Christina Trocheck, an assistant county attorney, added eight additional counts of aggravated criminal sodomy against Dinkel following a preliminary hearing Wednesday, at which a boy testified he and Dinkel had sexual intercourse and oral sex more than 10 times.
At the preliminary hearing, the boy testified his sexual relationship with Dinkel began after he started doing work stripping wallpaper at her house. He said their encounters occurred at her Salina house between November 2012 and March.
