from www.houston.cbslocal.com – A Brazosport ISD high school teacher is jobless and in jail after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with one of her students.

Reports indicate that 25-year-old Nikki Scherwitz was charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship with a student.

Although the Brazosport ISD would not provide specific details at the time of this report about the incident, it was revealed that they received a report of misconduct on April 22, 2013 involving Scherwitz and another student. The report revealed details of an inappropriate encounter at an off-campus, non-school event.

Campus officials launched an investigation and stated that Scherwitz resigned the same day she was approached about the matter, before officials could conclude their investigation.

Officials at the Freeport Police Department continued with investigation of the incident and then filed charges against Scherwitz who is currently out on a $50,000 bond.
