from www.articles.mcall.com – Police charged a 38-year-old married Allen High School teacher with corruption of minors Friday for allegedly having sex with a student in an Allentown motel on prom weekend a week shy of his 18th birthday.

Though Lehigh County’s top prosecutor said he had the discretion not to charge Gabrielle Suzanne Marvelli of Quakertown because the boy was almost an adult, he said teachers must be held to a “high standard.” The charge, a first-degree misdemeanor, carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Marvelli turned herself in to police around 8:30 a.m. Friday and was taken in a squad car to the county’s central booking station in the prison. Her face was covered by sunglasses, her long dark hair and court papers when she left booking around 11:30 a.m.

She quickly ducked into her attorney’s sport utility vehicle and declined to speak with a reporter.
