House Speaker John Boehner hasn’t said much about Rep. Anthony Weiner’s unfolding sex scandal, and he isn’t likely to anytime soon.

However, when it comes to divining why Boehner — who as the same Politico piece mentioned is not normally averse to giving a teetering scandal-plagued politician a “forearm shiver” — is keeping silent, the Politico people leave out one key thing.

One very key thing.

Capitol Hill insiders and political bloggers have been buzzing about an upcoming New York Times probe–detailing an alleged affair that the 61-year-old married father of two had with pretty Washington lobbyist LISBETH LYONS.

And an ENQUIRER investigation has uncovered a bedroom encounter that Boehner–second in line of succession to the presidency–allegedly had with LEIGH LaMORA, a 46-year-old former press secretary to ex-Colorado Congressman JOEL HEFLEY.

Well, well, well. This isn’t just alleged actual affairs as opposed to sexting, but affairs that include one with a lobbyist — a person whose job involves finding ways to influence politicians like John Boehner. Hmmmm.

Republicans seem to be linked quite often to this sort of thing, as the similar stories involving Michael Duvall and John McCain would seem to hint.

Interestingly, while this story has a lot of hits, very few are from places like CBS, NBC, and certainly not from FOX News. They’re all either from the National Enquirer or progressive blogs and bloggers. Yet the same media outlets that rush to transmit Andrew Breitbart’s every utterance as if it were the Word of God have been oddly reluctant to touch the Boehner story. But can Boehner count on the GOP/Media Complex to keep a Cone of Silence about this story, true or not, if he dares to flap his lips about Weiner’s story? Probably not — hence his silence.
