Jacksonville, Fl- Hey, if AVN can headline a two week-old story, so can Adultfyi. Eight people were arrested and 56 others were cited after Jacksonville police raided six adult entertainment clubs on April 22, accusing many women of showing too much skin while alcohol was present.
A 1987 city ordinance requires dancers to fully cover their buttocks and their breasts from the nipple down if alcoholic drinks are sold or consumed on premises. Nude dancing is allowed in clubs where no alcohol is present.
According to police reports, authorities went into six clubs about 10 p.m. Most of the accused people received misdemeanor citations and at least six other women were taken into custody because police said they tried to run or had separate warrants.
The sting operation involved Caesar's Gentlemen's Club at 4923 University Blvd. W., Wacko's at 3701 Emerson St., San Juan Liquors at 2003 Blanding Blvd., Gold Club at 320 General Doolittle Drive, Solid Gold at 7175 Blanding Blvd. and Beach's Gentlemen's Club at 2840 Mayport Road.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson said clubs are raided regularly to ensure regulations are followed.
Those regulations are being challenged by several nightclub owners, who are suing the city and saying dancers should be allowed to wear just pasties and G-strings.
Joe Serafini, who has been a manager at Caesar's Gentlemen's Club for five years, said it's not unusual for for police to come in, turn on the lights and then send patrons out -- effectively shutting down the club for several hours while tickets are given out.
"And they'd do it even if the woman were wearing granny underwear," he said. "We just tell the dancers to comply and give all the information the police ask for. There's no point in fighting it that night."
