Jenna Suing ReganBooks and Vice Versa

NEW YORK – Porn star Jenna Jameson and her book publisher are suing each other over whether the publisher has a right to any of the proceeds of a planned reality television show starring her, according to a published report Wednesday.

The New York Daily News reports that the countersuits have been filed by Jameson and ReganBooks unit Regan Media. ReganBooks published her best-selling book, “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale.”

The News reports that Jameson claims that her husband, John Grdina, negotiated for months with the A&E cable network to do a reality series based on her “everyday life.” The paper said her legal filings in the case argue that the project was clearly identified as not covered by an agreement she signed with Regan Media.

But Judith Regan, the head of ReganBooks who is moving the company from New York to Los Angeles in an attempt to do more film and television deals, told the News that Jameson violated her contract with the publisher.

The paper reports that a copy of the contract says it covers two potential TV ventures – a one-hour special based on Jameson’s memoir and a reality-based show as well as “any similar projects.”

ReganBooks is a unit of HarperCollins Publishers, which itself is a unit of media conglomerate News Corp. A&E is a joint venture of three other media conglomerates, Walt Disney Co., the NBC Universal unit of General Electric, and privately held Hearst Corp.
