The Federal government put this indictment before a grand jury on December 19, 2007. That was almost a full month before John's dance number was performed at the AVN Awards. So the government had targeted Evil Angel before that, not ONLY because of it.
Also, as I've stated on several different sites, Evil Angel isn't asking anyone at for money. I've specifically said several times that we're starting the nonprofit only because we didn't want to personally accept money from any of the people who were calling and emailing and asking if they could donate. We've told people that we have enough money to see this through. Fans and colleagues have still said that they feel like they want to do what they can to help, since they believe in John's ability to represent the industry as a whole in this case.
The difference between me breaking up with Rob and me staying with John for 10 years is because I respect John as a person and as my husband. He believes in what he does. Rob never believed in anything but himself. I was never married to Rob. We were indeed engaged for a few months back in 1997.
Evil Angel has a pricing system on our DVDs. Absolutely. With quite a few of the retailer legal cases, we offered better terms since we understood that they couldn't pay for product right then, but we wanted to help them still have money coming in. And in quite a few of the cases, the company ended up never paying for that product. We knew as payments from those companies got slower and slower, that it was a possibility that we'd never get paid on product we kept shipping to them.
But we wouldn't have cut them off at that time. With quite a few of the manufacturer cases such as Seymour's case, we did offer and give financial help. If a distributor had gotten busted for any of our titles, we would have accepted liability and responsibility for our product.

And guess what? That link works.
You say Evil Angel isn't asking anyone for money, but the story says:
"DefendOurPorn.org allows adult industry members and fans to donate to Stagliano's defense via PayPal."
Hey, I'm not asking for any money, either, but I'll give you an address and method where you can me some. Except right now I'm not taking PayPal.
And no one said you were married to Rob. Here's the quote:
"Karen Stagliano/Trisha Devereaux almost married Rob Black."
And the fact of the matter is Evil Angel did turn down Sami Harb when he came asking for help.
You also missed the major point of the story entirely, and I'll quote from an AVN article on Evil Angel from January 1997:
"Evil Angel has always had a tough, even inflexible payment policy for distributors."
This is basically what The Viz is saying.
