Former porn star and actress Katja K’s underwear company has filed for bankruptcy, despite turning a profit for the first time last summer.

The entrepreneur, who now goes by her real name of Sussi la Cour Jakobsen, [pictured] founded Brandbart three years ago, producing lingerie under the brand name Katja K.

The lingerie was sold in both Dansk Supermarked retailers and through her exclusive boutique, Katja K Studio on Bredgade street in Copenhagen.

The store opened in 2006, but closed last autumn due to a sharp downturn in sales. The shop was franchised and the owner at the time, Stefanie Paulsen, said she pulled out of the project before sales got any worse.

Jakobsen previously denied that the closure of the shop had anything to do with poor sales of her underwear line.

‘It’s not the Katja K brand that is selling poorly,’ she said to business.dk in October.

Brandbart operated with a deficit since it opened, but turned a post-tax profit last year of 44,400 kroner. This was compared to a deficit of 142,000 kroner for the Danish company in the previous year.

It is reported that the 40-year-old business woman’s next port of call will be Roskilde University, where she will pursue a master’s degree in connection with her new consultancy firm.
