Vixen Media Group (VMG) has released "Equilibrium," a new five-part feature for its Deeper label, written and directed by AVN Hall of Famer Kayden Kross. The production, which debuted its first installment on July 16, 2026, explores themes of desire, duty, and balance through ancient myth and feminine archetypes.
Production Details and Cast
"Equilibrium" is a five-part production led by Jewel Diamant, alongside VMG exclusive contract stars Serenity Cox, Jessi Rae, and Jason Luv. The feature also includes a supporting ensemble cast featuring Kenna James, Violet Myers, Rissa May, Seth Gamble, Chocolate Rod, Prince Yahshua, Parker Ambrose, Hollywood Cash, Goldey, Alex Jones, Little Puck, and Vince Karter.
The narrative of "Equilibrium" is structured around two distinct worlds: an ordered surface of duty and appearances, and an underworld of the psyche where desire takes physical form. The story centers on three sisters and a philosopher named Jason, portrayed by Jason Luv. Jason moves through the lives of the sisters, taking what he desires without offering his best in return.
The plot begins with Jason's seduction of his student, Jewel, played by Jewel Diamant. When Jewel's father demands restitution, Jason is compelled to marry the eldest sister, Jessi, portrayed by Jessi Rae. Jessi endures five years as an "immaculate wife" to a man who betrays her, until she recognizes the "fire that has been quietly consuming her home." Jewel, exiled to a convent, is guided by two nuns, Kenna James and Little Puck, who teach her the distinction between obedience and truth. Serenity, played by Serenity Cox, presides over the underworld as a "gold-dusted goddess." She demands "their best" from the men who seek her, a quality few are willing to provide. Serenity has already achieved the balance that her sisters are still seeking.
Kayden Kross described the central idea of the movie as a balance between giving and holding back. She stated that the film is not about "holding yourself back to meet someone else’s expectations" or "giving too freely." Instead, Kross explained, it is about "giving honestly where someone else is giving honestly back," defining "Equilibrium" as "something sustaining, where one can’t overcome the other," and "the cosmic dance." Jewel Diamant also expressed her excitement about the project.
Creative Vision and Symbolism
Kross's vision for "Equilibrium" involved building two distinct worlds to visually represent the film's philosophical underpinnings. The production team dedicated weeks to constructing a 360-degree underworld. This underworld was designed to disorient viewers, lacking an obvious light source or a clear sense of place, with imagery that evoked themes ranging from the birth canal to the tomb and resurrection. Kross explained that the underworld represents the psyche, where "sex in the underworld, in its own way, is more representative of facing your own conflict than actual sex." In contrast, the overworld is depicted with natural, source-driven light and an expansive frame, while the underworld remains confined and dreamlike.
The visual language extends to costume design, which traces the characters' journeys. Jessi begins in pristine white before black elements are introduced, and later, sprouts bloom on her dress. Jewel's wardrobe is exclusively black and white, while flashes of red on Violet Myers and Rissa May signify danger. Kross noted that these visual cues are intended to work on a subconscious level, stating that "Our psyche speaks in symbols, and we don't need to attend a specific class to understand them."
Symbolism is also woven into the elements associated with each sister, converging in a recurring tea kettle motif. Kross explained that fire is introduced with Jessi, Jewel is depicted as "drowning in her own desire," and Serenity emerges from steam. Serenity's character is further enhanced with gold and jewels, and luminous makeup, designed to evoke an "ethereal, supernatural goddess."
Behind the Scenes
Kross developed many of the characters with specific performers in mind. Little Puck, in particular, impressed Kross with her preparation for the dialogue-heavy material. Kross observed Little Puck "running lines on her own, just so focused," and described her as a "hard worker" who delivered "perfect delivery on every take."
The commitment of the cast and crew was evident throughout the production. Kross noted that performers' eyes "light up when they saw the monitors with playback," indicating their understanding of her vision. A challenging moment occurred near the end of the shoot when a performer needed to be submerged in a water tank in the early morning hours. Despite efforts to heat the water, it had become cold by the time filming began. After seeing the footage, the performer was willing to repeat the take. Kross's long-term crew also shared enthusiasm for the project, recognizing it as their most ambitious to date. Kross's cinematographer, who also works in mainstream production, described "Equilibrium" as "the best thing I've ever done," without qualification for adult content.
The concept for "Equilibrium" had been developing in Kross's mind for an extended period. Her research delved into symbolism, Jungian psychology, the shadow self, archetypes, and Hermetic principles, exploring ideas that recur across cultures. By December 2025, these ideas had solidified into the characters of Jewel, Jessi, and Serenity, and Kross spent her Christmas break writing the script. Months of preproduction, filming, and postproduction followed, culminating in the recent release of the fifth and final installment. Kross described the investment as "enormous," with the film's opening sequence, which incorporates a shot from every day of production, serving as a meaningful representation of the work involved. Kross experienced "intense goosebumps" while watching the edits, affirming that projects like "Equilibrium" make the effort worthwhile.
