San Francisco- Kink.com,aka CyberNet, one of the largest hardcore BDSM studios in America, bought the old San Francisco armory – a replica of a Moorish castle – for 14.5 million.

The building has been vacant for nearly 30 years, and will be used as a backdrop for production, a kink.com spokewoman said.

Built in 1914, the armory measures nearly 200,000 square feet, and was built in full period detail, including cavernous dungeon-like basements, stone staircases, vaulted corridors and a gigantic drill court spanning almost an acre.

Sarah Hill with KINK.com said the architecture of the armory is the perfect backdrop for fetish videos.

Hill said, “It’s a replica of a moorish castle, in fact, and because we create fantasy here in our core business, it seemed to fit well.”

A spokeswoman for the company said the armory will be transformed into a production studio. She said they will also reach out to mainstream film companies to rent the facility.

Word that the porn industry is moving in drew mixed reaction from people who live near the armory.

Vaenisha Rodgers said, “Me being a young lady and I have a daughter … we don’t need that. Put a library here or something like that.”

John Beckart said, “It’s kind of San Francisco … taking guns and turning it into sex, kind of in the spirit of the city. We welcome it to some degree.”

KINK.com said people will never have to know what happens behind the armory walls.

The company said it plans to reach out to community groups in the mission and hopes to hold fundraisers for them at the armory.

The armory was used as a National Guard facility until 1976. During rioting in San Francisco in 1934, it served as both a barricade and safety point for officers.

The armory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
